The Downstate Legislative Committee acts as a bridge between victims of violence and those who make laws that effect them. The committee examines legislation in New York State that will have an effect on victims of violence and actively engages lawmakers to ensure proposed bills support their needs strongly as possible.

The committee travels to Albany numerous times during the legislative session to join statewide groups in advocating for priority agendas.

We welcome suggestions from the public about legislation that deserves attention. If you have something you'd like to share with us, please email the co-chairs by using the form below.

Meetings are held monthly from September to June.

Want to get involved? You don't have to be a member of the Downstate Coalition to join us. Use the form below to tell us a bit about yourself and your organization and one of the co-chairs will reach out to you.

We look forward to talking with you soon.
